Old Hollywood Glamour

Grace Kelly looked so gorgeous wearing this blue chiffon gown in the movie ”To Catch a Thief” 1954. The Blue Dress was a two-toned, a-line dress with spaghetti straps, flowing chiffon skirt and detailed draping on the shoulders.
The old Hollywood glamour will always be a valid source of inspiration for many of us. Its sophisticated style is loved and embraced by those of us who want to look flawless and charming. Sophisticated and feminine styles from that period have become today’s hottest trends.
Hence this little series is for the dresses that I find are iconic and timeless.
Every woman knows the power of a great black dress, but the real magic lies in a red dress.
Julia Roberts wore this amazing red chiffon gown in the movie "Pretty Women " 1990, which would definitely be the iconic movie dress. Julia Roberts red dress is floor length formal evening gown, off-the-shoulder neckline with v-cut, ruched detailing all over the bodice, and a draped detailing at the front skirt. This versatile red dress can be worn for any occasion.
“Don't you know that a man being rich is like a girl being pretty? You might not marry a girl just because she's pretty, but, my goodness, Doesn't it help?” - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes 1953 .

Saving the best for last.
Marilyn looks scrumptious in this William Travilla design. It is a body conscious ruched chiffon gown to just below the kness, where a graceful skirt then flows to the ground. The crystal beading from the bustline then trims down to the skirt. Marilyn wears it for this eye-popping entrance as she and her Gentleman Prefer Blondes costar Jane Russell make into a cruise-ship dining room. The colour choice was a bold one. Many women avoid orange as it doesn’t flatter all skin tones. On Marilyn, who loved the colour, it managed to enhance her complexion rather than overpower it. .
